Blog Information and How to Contact Me
The 2003 book I published, OSHEAL-CHUMLEY, contains unproven information which was deceptively and intentionally written by an individual who continues perpetuating lies about me, my cousin, and our research and our integrity. The following items have been deleted from my book:
1. The information about one Elizabeth Maria Pugh was removed. She was not the wife of David O’Sheal (b. 1690). No one knows the name of David O’Sheal’s wife.
2. Unproven information concerning some of the descendants of and wife of Jethro O’Sheal. No documentation proves Jethro’s wife was Sarah. No primary documentation proves Jethro O’Sheal’s daughter, Elizabeth, married James Hewitt.
3. A 3,000 word letter which was supposed to have been taken from a memoir of an illiterate, elderly woman in 1865.
4. A fabricated history of the O’Sheal family and a fabricated trip the O’Sheal family made from Georgia to South Carolina and a fabricated account of a duel over Sarah Walker. (Daniel O’Sheal)
The information I’ve described was sent to me on the eve of publishing the book, and I did not carefully scrutinize the material. I learned of the literary fraud within a few weeks after publication. Further, I have never recovered compensation from the outright lies sent to me.
I am constantly working to “set the record straight” on the O’Sheal Family, and I now adhere to primary documentation only and will never again publish family stories that contain no primary documentation.
I hope my experience with a dishonest and disturbed person will serve to help others. Please be careful when dealing with strangers on the internet, especially those who fail to give permission for you to view original documents, while promising to allow the viewing AFTER publishing the book.
