Wayn,
I do not know if we are related, but I will do some investigation. What do you know about your John Gazaway who died in Fish Creek, GA? Do you have a date of birth?
You said, "Franis Gazaway." Did you mean to write the name "Francis"?

Yes, he was the brother of George W. Burkett. I am placing what I have on this family in a new post. It's not complete but all I have so far.
I descend from the d/o George W. Burkett and Margaret Dennington.

I suspect Willis Burkett born ca 1810 SC may be the brother of George Washington Burkett born 1813 SC.

He was married to Martha E. who apparently died before the 1880 census because on the 1880 SC Oconee Co census we find Willis married to Amanda born 1844 SC

I actually have been following his son William Hanes Burkett born 28 Oct 1852

marriage information from book Marriages in Mathews County Virginia 1861-1900 showing bride, groom, and parents of both

Hi,
Lot of hard work here! My ggmother was Permilia Elizabeth Marchant. The family story is that after my ggfather's death she remarried and had three or four more children.
