William Battle, (John 1) born 20 January 1801, Warren County, Georgia, died 16 August 1871, in Warren County, Georgia, near Swainsboro.  William Battle married Rebecca Allen, 13 April 1831, Taliaferro County, Georgia.  Rebecca Allen was born, 9 November 1811, and died 16 October 1875, Warren County, Georgia.

William Jefferson Battle 3 (William 2, John 1) was born 9 April 1836 in Georgia, and died 7 October 1886.  He married Mary Elizabeth Eubanks.  She was born abt. 1845 in Georgia.  Mary Elizabeth Eubanks was the daughter of Elijah Eubanks and Charity (maiden name unknown).

7.  William Oscar Battle 4 (William Jefferson, William, John)1 was born 12 January 1873 in Jefferson County, Georgia.  He married Bettie Blanche Taylor 08 February 1893 in Higgston, Montgomery County., Georgia, daughter of William Taylor and Elizabeth.  Bettie Blanche Taylor was born 02 August 1876 in Raleigh, NC, and died 15 May 1953 in Milledgeville, Georgia.

William Oscar Battle died after 1910.  Bettie Blanche Taylor Battle then married Daniel Asa Royal, the son of Harmon Royal and Margaret Taft.  In the 1930 Census, Blanche stated she was born in North Carolina. Her father was born in Ireland, and her mother was born in North Carolina. The 1880 Census, Bogue, Columbus County, North Carolina: William Taylor, b. abt. 1826, wife, Elizabeth, b. abt. 1835; Children were Willie, b. abt. 1864; Mary, b. abt. 1868, Roxie, ab. abt. 1872; Bettie Blanche, b. abt. 1876

OBITUARY
Mrs. Blanche Royal
Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Royal were held Monday morning at 10 o’clock at Mincy’s Chapel, with the Rev. David Cripps, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Royal died Friday after an extended illness. She had been a resident of Waycross for six years, moving here from Folkston. She was a member of Trinity Methodist church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Jackson, Little Rock, Ark., and Mrs. W. G. Wright, Waycross; two sons, J. R. Battle, Thomasville and R. O. Battle, Bay pines, Fla.; 11 grand-children and nine great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were G.l.Rivenbark, R. L. Elerson, C. J.Wright, V. W. Thomas, J. I. Corbitt and John M. Murray. Honorary pallbearers were E. H.Wright and B. N. Johnson. Mincy’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

11.  Roy Oscar Battle (William Oscar, William Jefferson, William, John) was born 1895 in Higgston, Georgia, and died 1958 in Bay Pines Veterans Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida..  He married Unknown Bradley.  She was born 16 August 1900 in Hampton, VA.

Roy retired after working thirty-five years in a Parochial school in Chattanooga, TN.  He moved to the Shenandoah Valley of VA in 1996 to be near two of his children.

12.  Joseph Russell Battle 5 (William Oscar, William Jefferson, William, John) was born 26 July 1897 in Fitzgerald, GA, and died 12 December 1962 in Thomasville, Georgia.  He married Hazel Baker 06 May 1922 in First Methodist Church, Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of Andrew Baker and Georgia Camilla Chastain.  She was born 08 June 1900 in Dalton, Georgia, and died 25 April 1973l in Atlanta, Georgia.  (Andrew Baker descends from Beal Baker who served in the Revolutionary War.  Lawrence Cooper Stringer, son of Virginia Battle Stringer and grandson of Joseph Russell Battle, joined the Sons of the Revolution through Beal Baker.  Georgia Camilla Chastain descends from the French Huguenot Pierre Chastain who settled in Manakin Town, Virginia.)

Notes for Joseph Russell Battle:
Records from the Social Security Administration stated that the parents of Joseph Russell Battle were William Oscar Battle and Blanche Taylor.  This record was completed by Joseph Russell Battle and shows his signature.

22.  Virginia Battle 6 (Joseph Russell, William Oscar, William Jefferson, William, John) was born 01 February 1925 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, and died 28 May 2004 in Albany, Georgia.  Virginia married Frank Dorsey Stringer 22 November 1947, Glen Memorial at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, son of Elbert Franklin Stringer and Hester Dorsey.  He was born 28 September 1922 in Clarkesdale, Mississippi, and died 04 June 1983 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Virginia and Frank are buried at Arlington Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.
Notes for Virginia Battle:
Virginia attended first grade at Miami Shores Elementary in Miami Shores, Florida.  Second through sixth grades were at Luckie Street Elementary School in Atlanta, Georgia.  Seventh through ninth grades were at O’Keefe Jr. High, and tenth through twelfth grades were at Girls High in Atlanta.  Girls High was in Grant Park.
Virginia worked at the Georgia Institute of Technology where she met her future husband, Frank.  After they married they lived on James Lane in Atlanta and later bought a home in Doraville, Georgia.  Virginia, Frank, and their sons lived in the same house on Chesnut Drive for ten years and were members of North Woods Presbyterian Church.
Virginia served as President of the League of Women’s Voters in Dekalb County and then on the State Board and President of the State League from 1965–1967.  When she and Frank moved to New Jersey for three years, she served in the New Jersey League of Women’s Voters from 1968–1970.
After Frank died, Virginia moved to Albany, Georgia.  .

Notes for Frank Dorsey Stringer:
Frank served with United States Army Air Force during WW II.  He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1951.  He was a member of the Presbyterian denomination.
OBITUARY    The Atlanta Journal and Constitution

Mr. Frank D. of Atlanta, died june 4, 1983. Surviving are his wife, Virginia B. Stringer, sons, Lawrence C. Stringer, Michael B. Stringer, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Bleckley Stringer, grand-daughters, Stephanie and Lindsey Stringer, all of Atlanta, brother, Mr. Lawrence Stringer, Jacksonville, Fla.  A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, June 8, 1983 at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be may (sic) to the Ga. Tech Alumni Assoc.;      H. M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill.

25    i.    Lawrence Cooper Stringer.  He was born in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

He married Connie Irene Chumley, 08 June 1996 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Larry served in the United States Army April 28, 1970 until November 1971.   He served one tour of duty in Vietnam.
